Engaging students in global issues: the responsibility of education to develop the ethical student

This session deals in its own way and from its own perspective with projects which engage,interest and challenge their young participants to develop an awareness of and facility with the global context in which they operate. Lynne will describe the challenges she presents to London-based fashion students to understand the impact of her industry in a global context. Rick and Nuha will describe the work Ignite! is doing to develop global co-operation as young people from south London network with overseas groups, building a sense of social justice and global concern. Discussion will show how young people can be encouraged and supported to develop awareness of and engagement with contemporary issues which are of global concern.
