Improving British outbound student mobility

4 December 2008 - 10:15

The UK has played a major role in increasing participation in international higher education. However, the UK's students are among the most reluctant to share in this experience. In order to improve outbound mobility there is a need for a greater understanding of the attitudes and opinions of tomorrow's potential students. This poster presentation details research conducted by A Star Future, a specialist marketing consultancy, into the preferences of UK students in the 16 to 18 age range. It assesses the impact of many of the barriers to international participation and the student decision-making process. It also gives an understanding of the courses and destinations that might appeal to UK students. The research addresses the pivotal role of parents, teachers and other advisers in improving the awareness of international education. The presentation will also detail how A Star Future has developed solutions to demonstrate how international universities can improve the number of enquiries, applications and enrolments they receive.
