Leading tertiary education into a global future
26 March 2010 - 11:45
This session will seek to identify the changing and more diversified skill sets needed to lead tertiary education into an increasingly global future. It will focus on a range of developed and developing countries and address the challenges of developing both national and international agendas. It will include analysis of the skills being sought for Vice-Chancellor appointments by executive search consultants active in tertiary education cross a range of countries, as well as findings from previous research on 'autonomy and accountability' achieving a balance between the needs of the state and tertiary education institutions, and 'the business and community challenges facing tertiary education'. Findings from focus groups undertaken by LFHE and experience gained from the leadership element of the INSPIRE programme will also be discussed
