Dr Anthony G. Shallcross

Dr Anthony G. Shallcross is Head of International Education and designated researcher at the Institute of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University with over twenty years experience teaching in schools involving senior academic and pastoral posts. Current responsibilities include teaching on initial teacher education, masters and continuing professional development (CPD) including course direction for EC funded COMENIUS CPD courses. Research includes funded evaluative research project for Scottish Natural Heritage and the World Wildlife Fund for Nature. Dr Shallcross is also Project director for the EC funded Sustainability Education in European Primary Schools Project (SEEPS) which supports school development of whole school approaches to sustainability education. He has over eighty publications several journal papers and chapters in books published in the broad field of education for sustainability. He is currently project coordinator of the Department for International Development funded higher education link project Promoting Sustainable Development through Whole School Approaches with Rhodes University and the University of South Africa and is also a member of the UNESCO teacher education group for education for sustainable development and consultant to the UNESCO teacher education section.
