Dr Catherine CHAN Ka-Ki
Dr Catherine Chan Ka-Ki is Deputy Secretary for Education (Curriculum and Quality Assurance). She was previously Principal Assistant Secretary and Head of the Curriculum Development Institute of the Economic Development Board, and has been responsible for formulating policies related to curriculum development of kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong.
Before joining the government in 1998, Dr Chan was an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, University of Hong Kong. She started her career as a secondary school teacher and then curriculum developer. Her areas of research interest include curriculum policies, design and evaluation as well as teacher education. Dr Chan played a key role in leading the curriculum reform and designing the strategy used to implement the new senior secondary academic structure that started in 2009.
