Dr Janet Ilieva is a Senior Education Advisor with the British Council, Hong Kong. Janet's area of expertise is policy analysis of education systems across the world and their openness to international engagement. Her recent research studies focus on the future shape of internationalisation of higher education and its impact on universities' core activities: university research and teaching. Janet has been with the British Council for nine years.

Janet is a member of the advisory group for Project Atlas (a global student mobility think tank based with the Institute for International Education, US) and the Association for Studies in International Education (on behalf of the British Council).

Janet has 17 years of experience with different education systems across Europe and most recently East Asia. She holds a PhD in Macroeconomics. Prior to joining the British Council, she lectured Economics at the University of Veliko Turnovo (Bulgaria) and was a guest lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg (Germany) and the University of Calabria (Italy).
