James Chau is a television news presenter and the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). He presents news programmes on China Central Television CCTV-9, as well as World Insight, which brings an in-depth look at headline stories. During his career, he has reported from the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East on the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the SARS outbreak, the Asian Tsunami and China’s entry to the World Trade Organisation. He was selected to cover the first White House talks between Hu Jintao and George W. Bush.

Mr Chau is the first person on the Chinese Mainland to be appointed by the United Nations as UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador. In this role, he has travelled on health missions to India, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Norway and the United States. James Chau has been named to the inaugural Google Young Leaders Summit, is a media leader of the World Economic Forum and a Freeman of the City of London. He recently co-authored the report HIV Now and Through 2031, a new AIDS campaign video by Hope’s Voice International, appearing with young activists led by HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
