Paul has been Principal since October 2002. Enfield college was merged into the College of North East London (CONEL) where Paul was Principal, in August 2009 to form the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London. Before joining the college in 2001 Paul worked for fifteen years in higher education as a senior manager, most recently at Thames Valley University in West London.

The college is a large general Further Education College located in Tottenham in Haringey and Ponders End in Enfield with over 24,000 students; 70% are adults. The college has Learning and Skills Beacon Status and has the Training Quality Standard.

As Principal, Paul is the main representative of the College on partnership and outside bodies both in London North and the London Region. Paul Head is also a Member of the London Skills and Employment Board (LSEB) chaired by the Mayor of London, Member of the London Apprenticeships Task Force and Vice Chair of the Haringey Strategic Partnership.

Paul is also a Director of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service and chairs the Principals Champions Group on community cohesion and preventing violent extremism.
