Professor Jim Mienczakowski

Professor Jim Mienczakowski is a graduate of the University of London. After training in the performing arts at the University of London’s Central School and working in theatre and media, Jim then worked for a decade with 11 – 18 year old children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and also taught in the West Indies and Australia before moving into higher education. Earning an MA from King’s College London he went on to complete doctoral studies at Griffith University, Australia.

Prior to accepting the role of Executive Director of Higher Education and Education Advisor with ADEC Jim held senior leadership positions in a number of higher education institutions in Australia. Formerly Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Industry) of Victoria University and earlier Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research) at CQU, Jim was also for several years a Foundation Dean of Education responsible for the pioneering of a profession-led workplace-ready training model for teachers.

Jim has served on numerous government Executive Committees, Boards, Research Boards and Statutory Education Authorities (including chairing the Queensland Government Studies Authority’s Senior Curriculum Committee) and, most recently, as an Executive Committee Member of New York University Abu Dhabi.
