Professor Serik Omirbayev has been Director of the Higher and Postgraduate Education Department, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2007. He is actively involved in the internationalisation of Kazakhstani education system, academic mobility and the Republic’s adherence to the principles of the Bologna process.
Previously Serik worked as Deputy Director of the National Testing Centre under the Ministry of Education and Vice-Chancellor of Eurasian National University responsible for academic affairs.
With an academic background in finance and law, his current research and professional interests revolve around higher education in Kazakhstan, with a particular focus on laws and regulations, strategy and management.
