Dr Rustam Kasimov is Rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He was previously Deputy Prime Minister in charge of education, science, healthcare and culture. He has also held the posts of Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialised Education, Rector of Banking and Finance Academy, Dean of Uzbek-Malaysian Business School under Tashkent state Polytechnic Institute. He gained his doctorate in economics and is a specialist in oriental studies.
